sick.

I don't like being sick. Right now my head hurts, my body is weak, and my stomach feels like it's carrying jagged boulders.
Not a great feeling.

Maybe it's due to all the sugar and unhealthiness I've been eating lately...how I regret it now.
As you know from my earlier post, my plan to start a juice fast starts today. Sad story: the box that I thought contained a juicer, was, to my dismay, carrying old knicknacks, a lamp, and other junk. We do not have a juicer. :(

Instead I decided to just do the raw fruits and vegetables fast for the full two weeks. If I feel like this the whole time it will end very shortly. Right now I'm considering eating some saltines or nuts or something.

I also can not decide if I should do a salt water flush. On one hand the thought of cleaning out some toxic waste sounds terrific. On the other hand, if I try to drink the salt water I may throw it up. Should I try it or not?

I'll have to let you know soon...

If there is anyone reading this I sure hope you don't feel as terribly sick as I feel right now. :(

Juice Fasting!

I'm excited. Really.

I need something to get off these ten pounds and start feeling better. My colon is coated in sugar and fat...

Yes, yes, I'm not actually 'fat' on the BMI scale so I'm not expecting to lose 15 pounds like some people, but I'm hoping for at least 7 over the two week period. :)

Here's what I'm doing: First week (7 days) starting tomorrow will be all juices, freshly squeezed and possibly salt water flushes. The second week I'll begin incorporating solid food, but only fruits and veggies. Then, by the third week I'll add simple carbs and proteins such as nuts, white meat, oats, rice, flax seed, etc. On the fourth and final week I'll bring in dark chocolate, yogurt, milk, and eggs. This will be my lifestyle. After the fourth week I will allow for two homemade sweet things (no processed foods) every week such as Christmas cookies, birthday cake, and other society pleasing desserts.

Every day I'm going to write down what I eat, how I feel, and each week I'll weigh in.

I'm hoping to blog every few days with progress, disappointment, and all other realities. :D

Goodnight.

Beautiful cold....

Saturday. What a wonderful day it has the potential to be. Most of mine are filled with less than desirable things to do, but today was an exception. :)

Today was filled with cooking, sewing, exercising, walking the dog, watching Newsies, looking at the christmas tree, reading, writing...ah. what a wonderful day. Perfectly restful.

And what I made today:

Amazingly rich pumpkin soup. (vegan) :)
A surprise one person pumpkin pie for my beloved father.
Black bean soup...a little on the bland side. (Really wishing I could get green chiles in the Balkans.) *sigh*
Oh yeah, I made some amazing stuff yesterday as well....which I ate today.

The best veggie burgers ever! Broccoli, peanut butter, soy sauce, carrots, and a bunch of other stuff...they were delicious, vegan, and baked. healthy and scrumptious...don't question it.
Lemon, orange, carrot, banana, apple, poppyseed muffins were better than I anticipated. My muffin skills are not what you might call excellent so I was impressed. Both of the above foods are now stowed away in my freezer for what I get the urge...perfect for the busy week ahead. :D

Overall this was an amazing weekend....
I'll keep you informed about the sewing. I'm making a skirt but the result of today was utterly disastrous so...
hopefully I will have the joy of reporting differently in a few days.
We'll see.

Goodnight.

First...

Rain. Rain. Rain. The beautiful mysterious sound of rain.
Why is it that rain intrigues us so?
What makes our minds go someplace else when the rain falls?
There is a storm raging around me, but peace within.

Anyway. New recipe:

Absolutely delicious dinner/ lunch option for any adventurous eater out there..

1/2 Squash/pumpkin...about two cups once it's cooked.
4 cups baby spinach (any leafy green will work!)
dried fruit, I recommend cranberries, but whatever floats your boat
nuts, my faves are toasted almonds, walnuts, and peanuts (for this particular dish)
chives
chopped green apple

Now that you've got your basic ingredients. Create. I microwaved my squash, placed it atop the greens then decorated the dish with the colorful toppings.

For the best part: dressing! or you could call it sauce.

Random side note: this whole dish is vegan friendly. :)

4-5 garlic cloves
2 tbs water
4 tbs balsamic vinegar
1 tbs all natural (homemade is the bomb) peanut butter
a few squirts of both lemon juice and soy sauce
1/2 tsp ginger. I used ground but fresh would be even better...
next time.
1 tbs honey

Microwave the garlic and water in a small dish for 2 minutes. Don't freak out because the garlic will make weird noises in the microwave. (The end result is worth the absurdity.) Once the garlic is soft yet crispy to the touch add everything else. Mix well...oula!

Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
